Join us in celebrating Spring by touring Babler State Park through a Tram Ride. Each tour will host approximately 20 people. An interpretive guide with a PA system will provide a presentation on the history of Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park and give commentary on the local natural and cultural history.
Join staff members at First Missouri State Capitol State Historic Site to make a beautiful handcrafted basket. This event is part of a series of monthly basket weaving classes held at the site. Each class runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All materials will be supplied, although you may wish to bring snacks and a drink. If the weather is nice, the class may be held outside; otherwise, it will take place in the interpretive center upstairs on the second floor. The second floor is NOT ADA accessible and only accessed via stairs. Class size is limited, and registration is required. Registration for all 2026 classes opens January 31st. You may sign up for any day that a particular class is being offered. The $5 registration fee is separate and not part of the advertised class cost. These classes are designed for ages 12 and up. Meet President Truman and Bess's oldest grandson, Clifton Truman Daniel. With your reservation you will receive one drink and light hors d'oeuvres. This event will take place at 6:00PM in the meeting room of the Thiebaud Auditorium. A cash bar will be available. At 7:00PM please join us as Mr. Daniel will present, Life with Harry and Bess. The evening presentation is free to the public. This event is part of Barton County's 250th celebration of the United States.
Crowder State Park will be hosting Halloween Trail Runs on Saturday, Oct. 31st. Meet at Shelter 3 Parking Lot where there will be a 1-mile fun run on the group camp trail, a 5K on Tall Oaks Trail, a 10K on Tall Oaks and Redbud trails, and a marathon on every section of trail in the park. There will also be a costume contest for all who participate in one of the runs. Each run will begin at 8 a.m., directly after the costume contest. Snacks and water will be available along the routes for participants. Medals will be given to the top three female and male finishers in each age group (18 and younger, 19-59, and 60 and over) in each distance. Awards will also be given for the top three places in the costume contest. Registration is required and must be completed by Oct. 20th. T-shirts will be given to those who register by Oct. 3. There is a fee of $25 for registration.
Celebrate Earth Day by helping to keep our community clean! Washington State Park will be hosting a trash pickup event on Saturday, April 25, 2026. All volunteers will meet at the Thunderbird Lodge at 10am and disperse from there to provide a deep cleaning for the trails and day-use areas. Snacks and water will be provided. We recommend participants bring a sack lunch along with them if they plan on staying until lunchtime. For cancellations or questions please call the park office at 636-586-5768.
Join University of Missouri-Extension and learn how to create and maintain a home garden, grow nutritious fruits and vegetables for your family, and gain nutrition knowledge that helps you and your zucchini thrive. Engage in fun, hands-on gardening activities at Felix Valle House State Historic Site to promote physical health, wellness, and demonstrate technical skills amongst the vegetables. Participants that join us for at least 6 lessons will be able to receive a free small appliance of their choosing courtesy of the University of Missouri- Extension partnership. Please wear sturdy shoes that can get muddy. Youth programming and games will be provided simultaneously (no registration required), so the whole family is welcome. Garden class is for ages 17+, registration is required.
Outdoor walking tours of the streets of Ste. Genvieve. Different topics will be covered at different times of year. Learn more about the available topics in the open sessions. These tours are presented in collaboration between Missouri State Parks and the National Park Service. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to tour start time. All tours begin at the Ste. Stockton State Park invites anyone interested in building a kite to attend. You will have the opportunity to add a colored design using permanent markers and paint pens to personalize your kite. After the kites have been personalized, we will take to the skies to fly and show off everyone's kites. So bring your imagination and be ready to have a fun afternoon! Yes, the kite you make will be yours to take home and enjoy. Any kid under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration is highly recommended in order to ensure we have enough kites for everyone. However, only those who are participating need to be registered. (Adults who are accompanying a child and not wanting a kite of there own do not need to register.) This event is free and open to the public, so come have some kite flying fun with us! Begin your archer journey by attending a hands-on workshop this summer! Take a step back in time and join Missouri State Parks for the Learn2 Aim event. This is a great opportunity to learn new skills with joint instruction on the basics of archery and atlatl throwing. The program is free and available to ages 10 and up. Missouri State Parks provides the equipment and expertise in a safe environment – you bring your enthusiasm to learn a skill that ties back to Missouri history.
