Saturday, December 6th 2:00 - 7:00 pm. Celebrate Christmas at Watkins Woolen Mill State Park. This is a free event with activities taking place at the Visitor Center and the Watkins' Home. Everyone is welcome at the Visitor Center, however entry into the Watkins Home will require advance reservations. Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start of your tour. Due to the nature of the scheduling and the number of people allowed in the house, it is not possible to join a tour already in progress. Please also note that the tours involve walking approximately 300 yards from the visitor center to the historic home and that the home itself has a number of stairways.
Tour admission fees vary depending on age, from free to $6.00. The Vallé House is not ADA accessible. The tour will involve multiple stairs and the building has no climate control. Please dress accordingly. The American-Federal style Vallé house was built in 1818 and today is furnished in the style of the 1830s with a host of artifacts that show the American influence on the French community of Ste. Genevieve after the Louisiana Purchase.
Tour admission fees vary depending on age, from free to $5.00. Knowledgeable interpreters conduct guided tours of the Thomas Hart Benton Home and Studio State Historic Site. Each tour takes approximately 45 minutes and includes the first and second floor of Benton's home and the interior of his studio. There are stairs to access the second floor of the house. For those unable to climb stairs, informational booklets with descriptive text and photographs are available.
