MASTODON FIRST DAY HIKE - LIMESTONE TRAIL

Kick off the new year with fresh air, scenic views, and a step into Missouri's ancient past! Join us at Mastodon SHS for our First Day Hike- a statewide tradition celebrating the start of a new year outdoors. We'll be offering two guided hike options so everyone can start 2026 their own way. The Limestone hill trail (2 miles- moderate) features rocky outcrops loose gravel and a few inclines adding up to about 300 feet of elevation. The Spring Branch Trail (3/4 mile- easy and ADA accessible) Perfect for families with young children or anyone seeking a gentler route. This flat paved trail winds along the scenic Rock Creek. Both hikes begin at 10:00 and will be ending the event at 12:00 PM What to bring: Dress for the weather, wear turdy shoes, and pack water or snacks as needed. The museum building will be closed that day. Whether you're looking for an invigorating challenge or a relaxing stroll, this is the perfect way to start your year surrounded by nature, history, and community!
