Onondaga Cave First Day Hike - First Day Hike

Join park staff for a hike along the Vilander Bluff Trail located East of Highway N in Bourbon, south of Meramec River's Campbell Bridge crossing on Thickety Ford Road. This trail is about a thirty-minute drive from Onondaga Cave State Park. The guided hike will begin at 10:00 AM and may take up to two hours. The trail is a 1.3-mile loop and is named for Vilander Bluff, which is the highest bluff along the Meramec River. The trail provides access to the Vilander Bluff Natural Area, which is a 206-acre area known for its ancient eastern red cedars. Please bring sturdy hiking shoes as there are some loose rocks and fairly steep terrains. Please dress for the weather and bring plenty of water and snacks.
