First Day Hike - Harry S Truman State Park - First Day Hike 2026

Harry S Truman State Park will be hosting First Day Hikes on New Year's Day 2026! The event will take place on the 1000th Mile Trail and will start at 1pm and end at 2pm. The 1000th Mile Trail is significant, as it was the 1000th mile of trail installed in the Missouri State Parks system. The trail traverses through a glade area, to a large bluff, through woodlands before returning users to the trail-head. There is a good possibility users will see Bald Eagles, White-tailed Deer, Wild Turkeys, and various other local and migratory birds. The views from the bluff are some of the best in the state and a must see for nature lovers of all kinds.
