First Day Hike - First Missouri State Capitol - 2025 First Day Hike

Join First Missouri State Capitol State Historic Site staff on Jan. 1 2025, for a hike through history along the Katy Trail and through the First Missouri State Capitol Building. Staff will provide a tour as we take in the views of the Katy Trail through Frontier Park in St. Charles and discuss the history leading up to Missouri's Struggle for Statehood. The hike will cover about 1 mile on the Katy Trail which is gravel and flat. It will also provide a tour of the Capitol which does have a number of stairs to reach the second floor, and does not have heat. It may be windy and chilly during the hike. Participants are encouraged to wear appropriate shoes, dress for the weather, and bring water and light snacks. The event is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome, but minors should be accompanied by an adult. For more information please call 636-940-3322.
